1. Data controller

2. What data we process

• Account data: email address, username, display name, and optionally city, bio, connection to basketball, and photo.
• Clip content: the video you upload, your question, category, level of play, and timestamp.
• Payment data: payment status and the Stripe transaction identifier. We never see or store card details — Stripe handles those.
• Technical data: IP address and browser information, for abuse prevention and error monitoring.

3. What we use it for

To perform our contract with you (providing the service, payments, notifications), for legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service quality), and to meet legal obligations (accounting).

4. Who sees your clip

Only you and the referee who picks it up. This is enforced technically through row-level database access rules and short-lived signed video URLs. Clip pages are never indexed by search engines. An administrator handling a dispute or complaint may also have access.

6. Retention periods

• The video file is deleted 30 days after upload.
• The ruling text stays in your account for as long as the account exists.
• After account deletion, data is removed within 30 days, except accounting records we're legally required to retain.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, object to processing of, and port your data. Contact us at info@asktheref.online — we respond within 30 days. You also have the right to file a complaint with your national data protection authority.

8. Third parties appearing in footage

People visible in clips are generally participants in public sporting events, and the clip isn't made public, so the impact on their privacy is minimal. On a reasonable request, we remove a clip without argument.
